Selenite TV block, is a polished block with rounded crystalline masses or in parallel fibers. The natural fibers of ulexite conduct light along their long axes, by internal reflection. These act as a natural magnifier.

Selenite, satin spar, desert rose, are all varieties of the mineral gypsum; all four varieties show obvious crystalline structure. The four ‘crystalline’ varieties of gypsum are sometimes grouped together and called selenite.
